Within the 29^th of November, 2011 all the Italian companies must communicate their PEC (certified legal e-mail) to the Italian Company Register of the Chamber of Commerce, according to the National Law n° 2 dated 28/01/2009. Electronic Invoicing From 2013

The European Council of Finance Ministers (Ecofin) has agreed on a draft directive aimed at simplifying VAT invoicing requirements, in particular as regards electronic invoicing (7132/2/10). The draft directive sets out to ensure the acceptance by tax authorities of e-invoices under the same conditions as for paper invoices, and to remove legal obstacles to the transmission and storage of e-invoices. Ecofin also took note of the fact that compliance with regulatory requirements has "hindered the take-up of technologies that are necessary for the development of e-invoicing."

P.E.C. – Posta Elettronica Certificata

The P.E.C. is a qualified carrier of electronic communications. It ensures the successful transmission and delivery of electronic documents (text and attachments) granting them the same legal validity as traditional mail with return receipt, but only if both sender and recipient use a certified mail box. This way of legal communication is even more important for the relationship with public offices. Having a legal mail is compulsory for professionals since November 2009, for new companies since November 2008; all the business entities must achieve the P.E.C. within November 2011.
